State of the Ace
I suppose it's been a while since I've made a post in my LJ that didn't just shoot straight to a video, a link, or an article in some form or another, but I've more or less accepted that my LJ devolved into "links my friends should check out". No big deal, it's not like anyone is missing much in what's going on in my life.

The Current Experiment is that my LJ account ran out (Christmas Day, in fact) and in a fit of laziness and curiosity, I'm waiting to see if there's anything I'm missing out on by not resubscribing to a paid account. Lots of my icons are now deemed INACTIVE, so I'll have to update the remaining icons to the ones I actually want to use, but otherwise... what am I missing? Phone posting I never use? Syndicated Feeds I don't care about now that I started using Google Reader? I dunno. If LJ doesn't let me embed videos anymore, then I'd just start posting them to Facebook anyway.

Lilli turned 10 last month, which FREAKS ME OUT. Seriously, an entire decade flew by, and I have no idea where I've been. "Still living with my mother" is a perfectly viable answer, and one I don't mind at all, but if you asked me 10 years ago where I thought I'd be today, this isn't it. Maybe it's for the better, and it could've been worse, right? In any case, I'm starting to re-notice the little baby pics hanging around the house, and missing chasing a tiny toddler around as it pushes towards teenage angst. It hasn't happened yet, fortunately, and I have false hopes of bribing away emo-ness with Pokemon.

I got myself the nifty T-Mobile G1 Google cell phone late November, and I'm having a blast with it. I'm not really using it as a cell phone, but more like a PDA-lite device, and I love how my GMail contacts and google calendar automatically sync with the G1. I just need Google Docs and a Things to Do list that syncs with my PC and I'd be good to go.

I just picked up Rock Band 2 for the Wii this past weekend, and it's an absolute BLAST. Not because it's Rock Band, but because it's Rock Band on the Wii. The Downloadable Content store hasn't opened up yet, and I'm not necessarily psyched to be buying and swapping a ton of SD cards, but the way I see it, I saved myself $400 from buying an XBox 360, because frankly, I don't want one. I'm perfectly happy playing Bioshock, Prince of Persia, Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead and Mass Effect on my PC, even if it might be several months after everyone else.

I'm hoping to get back into doing something... anything. I debated over the New Year's vacation of starting up a World of WarCraft Blog, just to be able to plot my adventures and talk about it to people who might possibly care (i.e. not you guys), but I feel that I'm too casual a player to actually benefit any possible audience. Of course, that was going to be my entire slant on the blog -- WoW from a casual player -- but would I still be casual if I write a blog about it? Maybe I'll still do it, or not. Other thoughts I've had are to just start writing in general -- more LJ entries, or another type of blog, or stories, or WHATEVER. Also, playing Rock Band is getting me re-interested in picking up my instruments again, so that's also an option. Pretty much do something that's not sitting in front of my computer all night playing games.

S'all for now. YAY wall o' text!

OMG you wrote words! :D I cannot fucking believe you're the father of a 10-year-old. X;;D I have even more trouble processing that you're in your 30s. ... And then I remember that I'm turning 25 in a few months. D: What the shit.

I'm so jealous of your G1. Though mostly I only want one because I want to be able to look at my Amazon lists when I'm in bookstores, hahahaha.

{I saved myself $400 from buying an XBox 360, because frankly, I don't want one.}

OH, WELL, AREN'T YOU FANCY. XO XD Whatever. I like having my lightweight little $500 laptop and a big bulky console instead. :\ Even if said console is always trying to sell me dumb shit.

Also: I read that "I was 14 ten years ago" comment up there and felt old, until I remembered that I was, too. XDD

Haha, I didn't do that math, but now that you pointed it out, I feel all old and dirty.

Hahahaha I barely refrained from calling you a dirty old man, too. XDD Ten years ago I was 14, and two years later, hahahaha. X;;D You creepy bastard.

I did it for you! HA!

Don't you have an iPhone that lets you do cool stuff? I liked the open-source of the G1, but I also wanted to stay with T-Mobile, so it was mostly a no-brainer for me. Also, I have this really nifty app that lets me scan bar codes, and it'll do a web search for where the product is available (i.e. Amazon) and how much it is, as well as reviews if available.

Ok, maybe "I don't want one" is a little strong -- I don't NEED one, because of my fancy-schmancy PC that gets 360 games anyway. But that's ok, because hearing that you got a 360 and that you're pwning little punks on XBox Live amuses me WAY TOO MUCH.

I know. 8DD

Dad has an iPhone that I play with when he's around. :o All I have is a pink Razr with frou frou cherry blossoms engraved on it and a cracked screen from when the cats knocked it off the bookshelf. XDD I saw that bar code scanny thing on TV. >o> Fancy. The G1 is really the only thing on the menu for T-Mobile, anyway, and I've shopped around a lot and found that the plan I have with them is the cheapest available for what I need. D: So I'm not ditching them any time soon.

Yeah, yeah, I know. :\ Pwning little punks has been quite amusing firsthand, too. 8D

Ah, that's right, I knew you had the Razr and just thought you got a nifty new phone when you mentioned the iPhone in previous LJ entries. I was actually THIIIIIS close to getting the latest T-Mobile Sidekick (2008, not the Tony Hawk), when the G1 was announced, and figured I'd wait for that instead.

No, I said "Dad's iPhone." :\ I'd have to switch to AT&T for that, anyway. :( Gross.

Hahahaha I don't even know what the last Sidekick was, since I avoid looking at phones I can't afford. X;D I did think about getting one a couple of years ago, though, until I saw one in person and was underwhelmed. :\
