State of the Ace
I suppose it's been a while since I've made a post in my LJ that didn't just shoot straight to a video, a link, or an article in some form or another, but I've more or less accepted that my LJ devolved into "links my friends should check out". No big deal, it's not like anyone is missing much in what's going on in my life.
The Current Experiment is that my LJ account ran out (Christmas Day, in fact) and in a fit of laziness and curiosity, I'm waiting to see if there's anything I'm missing out on by not resubscribing to a paid account. Lots of my icons are now deemed INACTIVE, so I'll have to update the remaining icons to the ones I actually want to use, but otherwise... what am I missing? Phone posting I never use? Syndicated Feeds I don't care about now that I started using Google Reader? I dunno. If LJ doesn't let me embed videos anymore, then I'd just start posting them to Facebook anyway.
Lilli turned 10 last month, which FREAKS ME OUT. Seriously, an entire decade flew by, and I have no idea where I've been. "Still living with my mother" is a perfectly viable answer, and one I don't mind at all, but if you asked me 10 years ago where I thought I'd be today, this isn't it. Maybe it's for the better, and it could've been worse, right? In any case, I'm starting to re-notice the little baby pics hanging around the house, and missing chasing a tiny toddler around as it pushes towards teenage angst. It hasn't happened yet, fortunately, and I have false hopes of bribing away emo-ness with Pokemon.
I got myself the nifty T-Mobile G1 Google cell phone late November, and I'm having a blast with it. I'm not really using it as a cell phone, but more like a PDA-lite device, and I love how my GMail contacts and google calendar automatically sync with the G1. I just need Google Docs and a Things to Do list that syncs with my PC and I'd be good to go.
I just picked up Rock Band 2 for the Wii this past weekend, and it's an absolute BLAST. Not because it's Rock Band, but because it's Rock Band on the Wii. The Downloadable Content store hasn't opened up yet, and I'm not necessarily psyched to be buying and swapping a ton of SD cards, but the way I see it, I saved myself $400 from buying an XBox 360, because frankly, I don't want one. I'm perfectly happy playing Bioshock, Prince of Persia, Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead and Mass Effect on my PC, even if it might be several months after everyone else.
I'm hoping to get back into doing something... anything. I debated over the New Year's vacation of starting up a World of WarCraft Blog, just to be able to plot my adventures and talk about it to people who might possibly care (i.e. not you guys), but I feel that I'm too casual a player to actually benefit any possible audience. Of course, that was going to be my entire slant on the blog -- WoW from a casual player -- but would I still be casual if I write a blog about it? Maybe I'll still do it, or not. Other thoughts I've had are to just start writing in general -- more LJ entries, or another type of blog, or stories, or WHATEVER. Also, playing Rock Band is getting me re-interested in picking up my instruments again, so that's also an option. Pretty much do something that's not sitting in front of my computer all night playing games.
S'all for now. YAY wall o' text!
